CONGRATULATIONS!

I am so happy that you prayed to ask Jesus to be the King of your heart. This is a new and exciting beginning for you. I know it took a lot of courage and a little faith, but God heard your prayer.

And since you invited Jesus to be your Lord, He will now give you direction, guidance, comfort, and peace. His purposes will now begin to be lived out in your life as you partner with Him each day. The sky is going to look a lot bluer and the grass a lot greener. And when you have problems, you can run to Him in prayer.

So let’s review how we know we can have eternal life with Christ.

I call it the ABCs.

Admit I have done wrong. I am a sinner and God cannot let even one little sin into his presence or it would no longer be holy.

Believe in my heart that Jesus literally came to die for my sin and rose again, proving He is the real deal.

Confess my sin and ask for His great forgiveness. Be willing to turn away from any sin with God’s help. Confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

As you now know, you couldn’t clean up your life before you came to God. You had to come just as you are. He isn’t impressed with our cleanliness or good works because He is completely sinless. He invites us to be forgiven and free!

And, so, I would guess the prayer you prayed went something like this:

Dear Jesus, I admit I have done wrong, and that I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sin. I believe You died in my place and rose again. So I confess my sin to you. Please forgive me and give me a new beginning. I ask you to be the boss and the Lord of my heart. Help me now to live for You. I thank You for Your great love and forgiveness. I pray this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

And if you meant that prayer from your heart, then God heard you immediately. He forgave you of every rotten and sinful thing you have ever committed. Whether your sin was small or large, it was forgiven. And now you have a brand new beginning. A clean slate!

Here is how to keep this love for God strong and fresh:

Read your Bible and pray every day. I would encourage you to start reading in the book of John. It will tell you all about Jesus and His awesome love for you. And prayer is simply talking to God. Thank Him for the good things in your life and ask Him for wisdom in the hard things in your life.

Find a church to attend that believes the Bible is true and preaches about knowing Jesus personally like you now do. If you need help finding one, ask in the form below and I will help you.

Get baptized. It will help to seal the deal in your heart and your commitment will be stronger. Your church can help you with this. Be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ask God to fill you every day with His Spirit and to release His gifts in you. The first five chapters in the book of Acts will help you. Tell someone else as often as you can about your prayer today and how Jesus forgave you.
